I am in Computer Arts Graduates Show Case 2009

I just graduated with a 2:1!!!! YAY!

grade!

I am really happy with my result as its borderline 1st and I have been told by some people that a first is not necessarily as good because it means you have concentrated too much on the grade and not enjoyed your time at university, I am not sure I believe that but still I can apply for MAs and other stuff and feel proud with my degree!

Hackspace

I think I may go to one of these although I don’t know how to get involved, anyone have any ideas or know how?

UPDATE: Maplin

photo

It seems like Maplin will open just in time for me and my house mate Mike to leave Epsom as they open on the 20th of June according to Sade who replied to my previous post.

I will try to make it along just incase there is some kind of opening sale, deals or give-aways.

Sadly I have to leave Epsom at the end of July when my tenancy runs out because not enough people are staying in Epsom that we could share a house. My self and Mike are considering sharing but until he has a job in the bag that cannot be relied on either.

Just incase you weren’t aware…

Maplin!

Maplin Epsom

Its been nearly 10 years since Tandy was bought out by Carphone Warehouse, since then its been down to Maplin and online stores such as Farnell, Rapid and RS to get your electronic components here in the UK. However over the years Maplin has begun focusing more on consumer electronics, presumably because its more successful, if thats the case it would explain why Maplin have opened so many stores in the last few years.

About a year or so ago Boots moved out of its old location into a new one leaving a retail space on Epsom high street which was taken by one of those family run shops which stock random stuff. Last week we found out it was closing, and today whilst I was out shopping in Epsom I saw its being replaced with a Maplin store, this is great because it means I no longer have to spend £2 on a return bus journey to Kingston when ever I need to buy stuff from Maplin. Not only that but I can save my self the 1 hour bus journey each way as it is about a 5 minute walk from my house.

I am looking forward to it opening but it looks like it won’t be until July according to their recruitment site.

Twitter

If you have been following my FMP blog, then you will no doubt have seen my Twitter LED Display, well earlier on today while demonstraighting it to my house mate (Tom Lambert) we happened upon a very sad Tweet…

I am joining a coworker on a somber lunch trip. We are going to see a coworker w/cancer who was sent home to die. Sad day.

I just went to see if the person had replied to my message and I was reading their latest tweets…

Back to office. Coworker looks bad. Could not talk. Sad. A good man will be leaving soon

I am shocked. Ed Brown, my coworker who I just left an hour ago, has passed away. Rest in Peace my friend.

I am a just shocked by how suddenly I had become involved in this story because of this new technology, read something from my Twitter message display, and then by following it over 5 hours the person had died.
