Here’s An Idea…

We Have Our Idea?

I thought we had  a final idea tom! I thought we decided it fri. There is no other way really to explain my idea to you. I’ve been thinking all weekend n it doesnt matter how i reword it its still the same outcome.

Basically its an interactive buddy! With the concept of a hub built in. What tech stuff would you like it to have on it? Everyone idea’s seem so boring if you ask me. We are creative designers not GEEKS, therefore we need to answer the brief in a way fun way, because I’d love to win this, and we aren’t going to if we follow everyone else’s lead.

I did ask everyone to design 10 characters over the weekend. They can look fun, futuristic, like a box, i don’t care. But because there is so much seriousness about this brief from other groups, we are trying to make it too real, and im bored quite frankly.

I’m working 4 days a week over x-mas period, so i should be able to meet up the 3 days that im off if required.

I’m worried

We still have no final idea, and we are not on our way to producing anything. Can we get another meeting organised?

Our idea…With a twist…

I’ve been sitting here for the last 2 hours and i’ve had no ideas. and im slowly loosing the will to live. Just kidding!

I’ve been thinking about what you guys that went to the presentations said about that girl and the monsters (but we can learn from her mistakes and make them better). I like the idea of someone to interact with. Maybe if we created something like the ‘Dunny’ below (obviously design our own figures to accommodate our ideas.) The phone would be the whole figure. The stomach could hold the main display of the phone. One eye could be for video calling i.e a camera inside. The other a digital camera. The ears could be the microphone. The mouth the speakers (could mime the word of vocal songs when sync’d with the on board MP3 player). The hands or feet as buttons (sensor touch buttons). Everything would be voice activated (or the figure could project a keyboard on the ground table ect). Maybe the figure can interact with the user by pretending its talking to you, or when speaking back a text message. Linking it with  Chloe’s idea and research, maybe it could understand emotion, and vibrate when you are happy or sad, to reenact a ‘Hug’. Maybe there could be different models, like a music character, photography character, serious character (RSS feeds, News). Male or female?

Im sorry if this idea is abit far fetched, or know one actually likes the idea. Just if  Nokia already have an idea for a wrist watch concept, its going to be with us before 5 years. Its a good idea, but we can elaborate on the concept of different shape phones ect. Can i have some feedback before our meeting please, maybe text me.

**// Note, this is an example to show you guy’s. Our ones will be better. Also with a smaller head!

Albert can you repost this video, as you’ve missed some of the code out.

Group Meeting

On Thursday at 7pm we are having a group meeting, this gives every one time to get their essay in and get home, if you don’t already have skype please download it from their website and create an account, also add all the people below and put your username on the end of this post.Tom – unknowndomainChloe – chloelou88Jess – lordchumJay -platform86Sarah – sarah.rose.maherAlbert – pharoahaggrey

Please be on time and professional, last time there was discussions interrupting the conversation unrelated to the actual group work.

Nokia Eco

Nokia’s new two part device the Nokia Eco, is a concept phone/device with the environment and health at mind, it monitors your body and uses a new technology similar to bluetooth to communicate between the main unit and a device worn on the wrist, very similar to our idea of a wrist phone.I found this at engadget.com after having only hours earlier had the meeting with the group at starbucks about our ideas.LINK

What Is 3G?

“Welcome to the third generation of mobile technology, or 3G as it’s known. Think of it as the cell phone equivalent of broadband. And it’s not so much the future as the present. With 3G data can be transferred at rates between 64 and 384 kilobytes per second, a blazing speed compared to most phones whose transfer speed is slower than the old 14.4 kbps (many services aren’t at 3G yet, but at 2.5G, a sort of interim stage, with transfer of 114kbps). It will create a unified global phone standard (anyone who’s travelled outside the U.S. with a dual-band phone will understand the frustration in trying to get your cell phone to work in, say, Europe). But above all, it’s going to transform your phone into a multimedia center. 3G is already widespread in Japan and it’s hitting Europe (Finland is a leader) and America. By way of illustration of 3G’s possibilities, British mobile service O2 has replaced its own mobile phone Internet service which it introduced with a flourish only three years ago for i-mode, from Japan’s NTT DoCoMo – and this after its O2 Active has been a runaway success, as had Vodafone’s Live mobile Internet service. But with the ability to access more sites (over 100), more customers will use the service, spending more money. i-mode currently has about 55 million subscribers in 22 countries.”
